Heavy Dream Progress Pic - Bio

Progress picture of “Heavy Dream”

I wanted a space where I could offer my perspective about an artist’s lifestyle. There are so many stereotypes and misinformation about artists that it’s no wonder our real lives are a mystery.

Over the past year or so I’ve explored writing as a complement to my art, and figured that if anything, others could read and learn from my stories. This blog contains rants and raves, my highs and my lows. I’ll share my successes and detail the failures, but through it all my goal is to make art, not apologies.

My career, like my art is a work-in-progress and constantly evolving. Right now I’m not where I want to be in life, but I’m working my hardest to get there.

Marlana Adele Vassar

Largely self-taught as an artist, Vassar's philosophy of balancing style and substance has attracted a diverse audience to her work. Using figures as the primary subjects, she weaves symbolism and surrealism throughout her art, creating images that are personal yet open to interpretation.
